"The Looney Tunes Show" Pilot Review - It's Not Duck or Rabbit Season!

They're back.... Is that a good thing?

Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and all the other classic beloved Looney Tunes characters return in "The Looney Tunes Show". The new series features Bugs and Daffy as roommates for some unexplained reason (to make it a sitcom) and has them as best friends now. In the first episode we also see Speedy Gonzales living in Bugs' house and those freakin' Goofy Gophers. Oh yeah. Elmer Fudd is rapping about grilled cheese sandwiches- WTF!?

Almost all of the reviews I have read of the new series are negative, but they all said things I could agree with.
The show has some laughs, which is very good. It would be sad if a Looney Tunes show could not make me laugh. But a problem that arises is that it is not the Looney Tunes style of comedy at all. It is actually more like Family Guy or some other sitcoms, featuring two (usually) characters seeing something on TV, getting into a situation because of it, and sometimes funny pop culture references. There is also NO GUNS.

One thing that irked me was that the whole show is centered around Bugs and Daffy being friends- FRIENDS!? Bugs and Daffy were enemies and even in later stuff like "Looney Tunes: Back in Action", Bugs and Daffy were at least still rivals. This is gone. Years and years of the classic DUCK VS RABBIT rivalry are gone with this show.

The animation style was quite lively and attractive and didn't overly redesign any characters (at least in Episode 1).

Overall, it was not bad, but it was not what I was hoping for. Maybe it will grow on me, but if not, after a few episodes, I'll probably stop watching. If you really want high-quality Looney Tunes, I suggest you watch the old cartoon from the 40s to the 60s.

Also, did anyone think Speedy's portrayal as the Hispanic guy that just sort of lives in Bugs's house to be racially insenstive?
